Our Calling
Music for the spirit.
We are a church choir uniting people with a love for music, singing and liturgy. We strive to keep the tradition of church singing and to build upon the rich heritage of sacred music.
We are a community of amateur singers of varying age categories, whose common goal is to create a high-quality musical performance while deepening the spiritual dimension of liturgy. In our work we emphasize quality interpretation, harmony, and a unified vocal expression.
Our concerts are not only a musical experience, but also part of a living community that enriches both the liturgy and the cultural life of the general public through music.
History and Present
We are a group of enthusiastic singers and musicians dedicated to church and classical music. The beginnings of our choir's performances date back to 30 years ago; we have progressed from simple guitar compositions to demanding choral works, and our goal is praise - the praise of God's presence, including His intangible presence in works of art. Our repertoire includes spirituals, gospel, missa, hymns and a cappella works.
We are blessed to be cooperating with a string quartet and invited soloists. Our mission is to spread joy, fellowship and peace through music. We primarily focus on the interpretation of sacred music, which forms a natural part of liturgical life. We regularly accompany church services in our home church and participate in the musical setting of major religious holidays throughout the year.
Thematic concerts have a special place in our hearts, as we prepare these for Christmas, Easter and the annual summer Pilgrimage to the Madonna of Žitný ostrov in our parish in Dunajská Lužná. These projects allow us to present a broader repertoire and bring a deeper artistic and spiritual experience to all the listeners.
In recent years we have been performing more frequently outside our home. The choir is regularly invited to concerts in the wider local area, but also in more distant cities in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and the Republic of Hungary. A significant event is also our performance in Rome, Italy, which represents the pinnacle of our artistic and spiritual pilgrimage.

Conductor
Church choirs have been an inseparable part of church life and culture for centuries. Our choir community has a rich history – through our 30 years we have come a long way and developed from youthful enthusiasm to a professional approach with high artistic demands. The choir was formed at the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in the Parish of Dunajská Lužná. A key figure, playing the main role in the choir, is its founding member, our conductor and soloist, Mgr. Lucia Čerňanská.
